NEW! The Children’s Coaching Collaborative seeks to create a nation of ‘child-first’ coaches.

It’s guiding principle is based on the fundamental rights of every child: the right to play, the right to be heard, the right to develop.

We spoke to UK Coaching’s Heather Douglas and Sport England’s Stuart Armstrong on the birth of the grass-roots movement and its mission to:

provide positive experiences of physical activity and sport for children & young people
challenge the existing delivery of children’s coaching
educate coaches on the benefits of adopting a child-first approach
encourage coaches to collaborate with young people on sessions and goals and centre the child’s voice in their practice

“What this campaign exists to do is to enable people to build a movement together – a network of grass-roots coaches – and connect with each other; strengthen each other; support each other; take action together; bring others on the journey” – Stuart Armstrong
