If we teach young athletes that they can’t achieve they will believe it. If we teach them that losing makes you a loser they will believe it.
Adopting / teaching young athletes a growth mindset can allow them to grow into resilience athletes.
We can do this by:
° Teaching them to learn from a bad performance
° Explain that win can look like improving a new skill not just winning the game
° Allow them to understand their own emotions
° Shape the way we communicate with them
Our young athletes grow up to be the adult athletes you see today. We can make them mentally strong by the actions we adopt in their childhood sporting journey
